Parlour – a new initiative
Parlour is a website and think tank that discusses women, architecture and equity and has made quite an impact on the Australian architectural scene since inception three years ago. I spoke with Dr Karen Burns co-founder of the website about a new initiative to help fund Parlour and allow an expansion of ideas and plans to help the website continue to support women in architecture.

MPavilion – the first year
Located in the Queen Victoria Gardens opposite the NGV in St Kilda Road Melbourne MPavilion has recently finished its first year and I spoke with Naomi Milgrim, owner, chair and chief executive of the Susan Group and head of the Naomi Milgrim Foundation about this project that is close to her heart. I also had the opportunity to talk with Robert Buckingham, the creative director and there are contributions from Julia Peyton-Jones from the Serpentine Galleries and Sean Godsell, architect of the first iteration.

One of the highlights of the trip was my interview with Rosanna Hu and Lyndon Neri who are Neri&Hu and I spoke to them for Architel.tv at the Majestic Hotel. Rosanna and Lyndon are delightful people with one of the most exciting architectural practices in the world and it was interesting to chat about design in China and their own contribution.

DesignEx 2014 Sydney – Highlights
DesignEx was held in Sydney this year at it's new home for the next few years, Glebe Island. It was a successful exhibition and I spoke with some of the exhibitors from my favourite stands.
Furnitex, VIVID and CIT
it was good to be involved with Furnitex in Melbourne this year as I was asked to help with the judging of the Vivid entries. The standard was incredibly high and after talking to the winners I realised that the passion and enthusiasm for product design is alive and well in the next generation of designers climbing the ladder. I also had the opportunity to catch up with Peter Kitely from CIT and chat to him about his students and their work
Mid Century Modern Furniture Exhibition – Kirsty Grant
I had the pleasure of speaking with curator Kirsty Grant at the Mid Century Modern Furniture Exhibition at the NGV in Melbourne and we talked about the back-story to the event. This is a beautifully resolved curation of furniture from some of the foremost Australian furniture designers of the 40's 50's and 60's. Everything that is old is new again and so it seems with many of these pieces.
Interview with Victoria Redshaw - Trend Setter
Talking with Victoria Redshaw when she visited Australia was an enlightening affair. Her company Scarlet Opus advises designers, manufacturers and retailers and helps them to plan for future trends. The process of trend forecasting is an exhaustive one and there were no crystal balls in sight!
